Installing Motor Mounts
Installing Motor Mounts
I've got a set of polyurethane motor mounts ready to install, but I have a question. I know you need to drill out the rivets on the driver's side mount, but how did you guys get a drill in there? There's hardly any room. I was thinking if I couldn't get to that mount would it be okay to only change the passenger side? That's the side the engine torques to anyway, I'm just trying to prevent my y-pipe from banging the undercarriage of my car.
Thanks.
Thanks.

i just finished replacing the mounts on my LS1...not fun
it took me the better part of 10 hours, not including breaks!
you have to really jack the motor up to remove the mounts (least on the ls1...can't be much diff on the LT1).
when you have the mounts out, either grind off the head of the rivit and use a punch to drive it out, or you can use a pointed punch to put a dimple in the middle of the rivet and then drill it out.
grinding is easier.
i did both mounts because of the same problem you are having. havn't driven it yet but i fired it and the engine barely moves when revved up.
worth the effort.
