Installed pacesetter mid-tubes

ok where to start, finally installed the pacesetter shortys onto 97 z. Installation went pretty decent. Fired up the car wow exhaust leaks from hell. My idle is kinda up there as well. And the worst part is my steering linkage is rubbing against the headers. My first plan is to find the exhaust leaks, then change out the o2 sensors. my question is should I change the front 2 o2's or all 4? and about the linkage being in the way should I bend the header back a little or is there another way? Thanks

Try loosening the bolts that hold the steerbox to the frame. Have a buddy move it out of the way (if possible) then lock down the bolts.

The steering linkage itself is telescoping, try loosening the bolts and adjusting it. Your motor mounts might be toast a well.

Headers are prone to leaking like sives, and any new exhaust system will need a few little tweaks to get right. You'll have to re-tighten the header bolts a few times after a couple of heat cycles, as the metals will expand and contract when they're hot & cold.

Using a quality gasket set is the first step, as well as proper torquing of the bolts.

Just will take a little bit of tweaking is all.

If you've got a higher mileage vehicle, all 4 o2's will be expensive, but will make your car run better.

the front 2 o2s may make the car run better...the rear o2s serve only to tell the pcm that your cats are there and working...dont waste the cash for the rear o2s

I run shielded denso o2....that way I can runn c16 and not worry about f in up the o2s

the rears are not need as stated by j0n

good gaskets, thick header flang and good bolts help the header seal to the head

Re: Installed pacesetter mid-tubes

THanks guys for the reply about the linkage, had no idea I could loosen and move. In addition to everything, I took the car out for a test run, around 70 the car had problems shifting into 3rd, after that around 120 the car felt as if it toped out and wouldn't shift into 4th. It felt like it was missing firing bad. I ending up passing a chp hiding in the bushes going around 120. Wrote me up for 83 so I could go to traffic school. lol I'm going to go ahead and change the spark plugs and check the wires. For the exhaust leak wheres a good place to take it? could I take it to midas? I really want to fix the exhaust leak first then move on the the o2 and then plugs and wires. THanks guys
