Thumbs up installed pacesetter lt's, summit x pipe, bullets

Got it all done about 3:00 this morning. I put on pacesetter race long tubes, summit universal 3" x pipe kit, 18" dynomax bulletts and turndowns. All I can say is I love it and I cant wait to put a cam in to make it sound like an old chevelle or nova. It's kind of quiet idleing and I can cruise around town and keep the tone down so the cops dont get upset. But man when you open it up it sounds awesome. I think it might be a little faster and it definately seems like it revs quicker, I have the limiter set at 6500 and I've hit it quite a few times. Good bye cat back and shorties, hello real exhaust.

Any leaks at all? How much did it cost from the collectors back? Thanks.

No leaks so far I figure I'll wait about a week and crawl under it and retighten clamps and header bolts. I have $578 in the whole exhaust. The headers where $304 shipped, I found the x pipe on ebay for $86 shipped, bullets and turndowns were $126 shipped, I had to get two of the pipes that come with the x pipe kit re made due to the pace setter headers being farther apart then some others so the summit pipes weren't long enough, that cost me $24, plus clamps and hangers and such.

Thank you. Is it extremely loud? I have a cutout now dumping under the rear passenger floormat, and IMO that's too loud to drive around with every day, so I keep it capped up. I have pacesetters as well with no cats.

Its only really loud when your wide open, I can ride around in it all day at low speeds or in high gear and its no louder than my old exhaust with the short tubes and the hooker cat back.

I've never heard those but I think they are like 127 dollars a piece? The bullets are such a deep great sounding tone and they were only 36 dollars a piece, I went with the 18 " to quiet it down most people on here run the 12" I think that would be too loud.

Heck yea cant go wrong with true duals on a lt1. Sounds so dam good. I love mine, and would never go back to a cat back. Like he says, it really isnt that loud till you get on it. Then it sounds like a mean carbed muscle car.

Well I just really don't want to get pulled over. Do you think it's quieter than my cutout is now? I can't drive around town with it open without being paranoid and checking for cops every second. The XR-1's are $125 each.

Re: installed pacesetter lt's, summit x pipe, bullets

Well I have 2 friends who run true duals on their lt1's as well. All 3 of us run jet hot LT's. All 3 of us run 2 1/2" piping as well as bullet mufflers. The only difference is they run an x pipe. And I dont. Mine is actually louder then theirs.

But I think as long as you keep it 2 1/2", then you will be ok. Cruising around town mine is really no louder then a loudmouth or open plate borla. It just sounds deeper, more mellow, and has that true dual muscle car sound. So it will most likely be quiter then your cutout.

The bullets actually do cut down on some of the sound. I remember I drove around on pure headers. And the car was insane as far as sound goes. Everything rattled to hell, the drone was nuts. It was awsome because people looked at the car, and didnt want anything to do with it. But it was too loud for day to day driving, and would probably land me a ton of tickets. The bullets cut down the sound a decent amount. But not like most catbacks do.

Worst case scanario, you can always add an other bullet muffler.

I didnt go with the borla's because of the cost. They are both the same darn thing. They are nothing but a hollow pipes with packing to cut down on the sound. No chambers. So they are the least restrictive. Maybe the borla's built better. But imo they are the same thing as far as the performance wise..

I run Hooker LTs and purple horny header mufflers with turndowns, they exit just after the front seats and it sounds great.
Not too loud just cruising but they get LOUD at WOT.
Been running this exhaust for a year and a half now with no problems.
I love the old school sound and if you can handle the rump and the extra maintance its the way to go.

Re: installed pacesetter lt's, summit x pipe, bullets

i've been really considering doing a long tube true dual set up on my a4 94 Z.
I already had a 3 1/2 12" bullet on my cat back so I had a custom 3" pipe made from the cat and then dumped the bullet before the rear axle and it rattles everything in the car...I honestly can't stand it...and the car runs worse...

Do any of you think that long tubes, 2 1/2 x pipe and 2 1/2 18" bullets would be quieter than this..Man if not I'm not so shure I could deal with the noise day after day. Not to mention the fact that it sounds like a V6 inside the car

Has anyone ever tried flowmaster 1 chamber mufflers on a true dual setup?

Re: installed pacesetter lt's, summit x pipe, bullets

I have hooker long tubes, 3 inch pipes going to an x-pipe, then dual single chamber flows dumped before the axle. My engine setup is pretty extreme now so it is VERY LOUD, but it sounds awesome. this exhaust setup may be a little quieter on an every day driver, but it still has the flowmaster drone sound around 3000 RPM under a load. I love the x-pipe, though, when you're at WOT it screams.
