Unhappy Installed intake manifold without the bottom baffle

How important is that peice that bolts to the bottom of the intake manifold that is some kind of baffle. It is held on by four bolts, I took it off when I had the manifold cleaned and now I have the motor in the car and I saw it on the work table.

Anyone know?

Re: Installed intake manifold without the bottom baffle

I inspected and cleaned that sucker a few days ago off my intake... By looking at it I can tell you its an oil separator for the PCV valve. On one side of the baffle has some oil returns to let the acumulated oil to drip down into the engine. I bet your PCV valve will suck oil from there now and you will think your oil rings just flew off the pistons but that wont be the case.

At best you wont burn any oil but I sincerelly doubt it. That baffle was place there for a reason.

take it back off and put the baffle back, wont take you more than 30 min b/c you've done it already, clean the bolts and put thread sealent back on them and in it goes

It's also an aid, to keep hot oil, from making contact with the bottom of the intake.
