Installation Price

To get just the hooker long tube header install cost 487.68 does this sound right for a 97Z all they got to do is take off the manifolds and installed them ill put mufflers on, is this high. I want to do this my self with friends but i was curious to see what it would just cost to get done by pros?

Sounds like a dealer price or straight out of the shop manual if you ask me. The going rate here in Atlanta for the independent shops is $350.

Header installs usually go anywhere from 250-300.

It really depends on the quality of the work and whether they are standing behind any leaks, burnt wires, etc. Get them to agree to that and you've got a deal.

Thats not all that high....8 hours at $50 an hour....I guess it should be around $400, but maybe the guy is planning on like 9.5 hours of work.......

It's a pretty good guess that they've never done it before. After they're done, ask them how much they'd do it for next time someone asks...

Going from stock manifolds to longtubes is at least a half day job, even with a lift and great tools. If they can just do the locking header bolts in a hour they got my props...

I did mine on my 97z back when I had virtually no knowledge of these cars, it took me a day and a half(about 8 hrs a day). Its not hard at all just tedious, if you have the time and tools save yourself the money and do it yourself.

Add price of install for Headers, Plugs and Wires and it should be around that price IMO...At least from what ive seen around the shops here.. also, finding a cheaper deal might not be good in the long run...i'd rather pay a shop a little more to do the job perfectly and to have that security if anything goes wrong, then u can take it back ya know?
just my opniom
