Injuneer, Guru's, HELP!

Found this on a yahoo search about something I found when pulling things apart to start polishing:

"There is a SECONDARY purpose to the vent line. IF you get excessive blowby, or you have a plugged PCV valve, the vapor buildup will cause the flow in the air supply line to reverse direction, and flow out of the vlave cover to the throttle body. This is when you start getting entrained oil in the vent flow, and it starts to build up in the top of the TB, and gets carried over into the throttle bores, coating the bores and the intake manifold with carbon. It should not be possible to build up significant pressure under these conditions."

This was posted by you Fred at some other point in time. Now if I understand correctly, you are talking about the rear most port on the top of the passenger side valve cover, that sends a line to the throttle body. Now, upon taking my stuff apart, I am getting quite a bit of buildup of crap, and noticed that there was a small amount of oil coming from that line and building up in the top of the throttle body. Does this mean I have alot of blowby? Last time I checked the PCV it was fine, I will check again in a little while.

I was wondering about putting something on there that wouldn't foul up the tb and get oil vapor in the intake manifold.... is there anything for it?

I have heard talk of some people putting a fuel filter on the vent line that goes to the TB.

Yes, I bought a crankcase breather (spectre) to replace the line to prevent the oil from getting in.. BUT

I'm worried this is a sign of blow by... the engine does have quite a few miles on it..

Fred?

Just about everyone's LT1 has some oil in that hose. I would not get too worked up about it.

With the hose plugged, let the engine idle. Take the fill cap off and feel and listen for air puffing out the fill pipe. That would be the sign of excessive blowby.
