Injection Question!

Injection Question!
Hey I ordered a new set of lucas 42.5 lb injectors and I went to install them and I noticed that the metal clip that holds the injector to the fuel rail wont fit into my new injectors. How crutial are these clips?

put the injector in and try to pull it out with the rail bolted down. it aint gonna budge
the injector sits in the rail pretty snug with the upper o-ring on it
i think they are there just to hold the injectors in place when setting the rails back down onto the manifold....
other then that i cant really see a reason for them being there(?)
