Initial Dyno Numbers with 224/230 XE

Joe Prince Racing Heads
XE 224/230 Camshaft
rest of mods in sig link -- it's the black car.

Well, the tune was decent. Really lean at partial/cruise throttle, spot on up to about 4200, then leaned out. First run was best, but got worse as computer compensated for lean condition. Still, numbers initially aren't bad. I'm happy, and we're expecting at least another 5-7 after getting her dialed in.

Initial Dyno Numbers

375.6 Max HP/363.8 Max TQ First shot with PCM For Less Chip!

Here's the kicker: This is legit. This is through Arizona Speed and Marine Headers and a Random Tech Catalytic and Cat Back. No cutout, no long tubes, no off road pipe. I'm pretty pleased, and we should see 380+/370+ after getting it dialed in. Joe tells me if I throw LT's and an ORP on it that I should be over 400 with that little cam! to Joe's heads.

What do you all think?

Nice numbers I think that if you went with long tubes, you'll definitely gain hp but I think you'll lose some tq. Long tubes really are for upper rpm hp. I remember hearing from someone that the difference between as&m headers and long tubes isn't that much. Might not be worth the money. Just my .02 cents.

Yeah, I've got the chip on the way to PCMforless now. I should get it back on Thursday, and hopefully we'll be able to get it back on the dyno on Friday.

That's the only suck factor for the 93's. Chips chips chips.

Still, I think those are pretty darn good numbers for the 224/230.

That's what Joe tells me if I was to switch to long tubes and an off road pipe, but I don't think I'm going to do that. If it doesn't pass Jersey emissions, I'm going to register it in Central PA at my girlfriends mothers address, and no more emissions. Then, I may step up to the 230/236 or GM847 (which I REALLY like). Going off of what other people are putting down, I should be close to 415-420 with the 847 grind, maybe the same with the 230/236. But, I'm going to enjoy this setup for a while. Once it starts feeling slow, and I feel I've done everything to max it out, I'll move up.

Let us know if you pass emissions. I still have another year before I can test mine.

Thumbs up

Nice #'s! I've got the same cam, headers, cat & cat-back - but no head work yet.. Good to know there's still a good bit left with this set up.

I wish I knew. I've got two chips enroute to me right now so we can fix the lean condition. So, hopefully we'll be putting her back on the dyno on Friday or monday. She had the front of the motor torn down again today to fix that oil leak too.

What LSA is that on 114 or 112. Because i'm getting the as&m headers real soon and i'm trying to decide on the cc305 or the xe224/230 but on a 114 lsa since i have emissions to worry about. Jkipp what kind of #'s are you putting down?

Sorry, I have yet to dyno this thing.. Everytime I set aside a chunk of change for the Z, parts appear To add insult to injury, there's a new dyno/tuning shop about 10 min away (same shop that did the tuning for the guy who put down 450+ rwhp with Joe Overton heads/stock bottom end)

Very nice numbers and very encouraging since I am pretty much doing the same setup on mine. If I ever get our good ole boy Blatz (see for sale section) to come clean on my lifters, I will be set to find out how my 224/230 will do.
