I did LTCC. It is expensive and I wouldn't say you get much gain from it. The idea behind the conversion is to get the high voltage out of the opti.....hopefully prolonging its lifespan.

There are 2 systems out there Delteq and LTCC. Delteq uses a 4 coil setup (1 for 2 cylinders) and the LTCC uses a single coil per cylinder as the LS1. Both systems are good, the Delteq is much easier to install (plug and play), however it looks as if Delteq might be going out of business due to the owner being sick so their support has gone down the drain. LTCC on the other hand is still kickin and support is decient, but their system is a little more involved in installing and you have to typically fab up some brackets for the coils on your VC's. I personally have the Delteq setup and love it, the car has run smoother and I have felt a difference since installing. The choice is upto you, do a search on both systems and you will find tons of threads about them. Also, note their are a couple of Delteq setups for sale in the FS section of this forum for LS1tech (can't remember which one). PM me if you have any questions, as I will be glad to give some advise if you decide to go with the Delteq and here is a pic of mine so you can get a idea of how the VC mounted delteq looks:

any MSD box will accomplish the same goal and it is much easier to install then the LTCC or the Delteq. I noticed a big difference in the throttle response and driveability in mine after putting my box in.

Yeah but the msd will not get the spark outside of the opti like stated before.
I noticed no difference in my car before or after putting in a MSD digital 6 honestly.

I think there has to be a reason why they use individual coils on the newer setups.

The goal is to keep the high voltage out of the opti, as stated above.
Once that is accomplished. You can take advantage of several coils for more spark power, Hence the ls1 setup. It cant hurt anything to upgrade if you want to spend the cash.

IMHO you dont need individual coils on a bolt on only car, and some would argue that you dont need them at all.

Depending on his setup, he may have had a problem with his old ignition before he switched.
