I just got my impala head gaskets in the mail, and I can't tell which side goes up. Both sides are black, and there is no yellow tab or anything to look for.

How do I tell which side should be facing up?

 

Part numbers up. I do belive, I just did this and it seems to me they only work one way???! check the coolant passages at the bottom front and rear corners I think (if I remember) cover some pasages if installed up side down.

how did the head gasket install go? I'm about to pull the heads to get them resurfaced today and I'm a bit scared- its my first time pulling the heads.
