Are impala, and fbody brackets the same?

hey guys, im just wondering if the impala and fbody brackets are the same, for some reason my 96 ws6 has an impala ss ps pump in it, and the factory one doesnt look like it bolts to the bracket, but on that same bracket the "cover" piece unbolts, i was wondering if this is the only diffrence, or if the bracket itself is diffrent

I don't think accessory brackets and spacing are the same.

The brackets are different.

I can get a picture of a b-body bracket off the motor and put it up if someone wants to put one up of an f-body one for comparison.

An aquaintance has an f-body motor in his Caprice and made the mistake of using the f-body bracket which contributed to the car being harder to wrench on than necessary. Not saying the f-body bracket is bad just that it belongs in an f-body not a b-body. I do like your high pressure PS line routing better though, ours goes through the bracket so the first time you pull the motor you have to pull the PS line so you can get to the bolt behind the pump, that bolt gets left out then and we can just leave the pump on the bracket and push it out of the way.

What a coincidence. A friend of mine at work with a 95 caprice and I were just measuring the alternator and power steering pump pulleys for comparison. alternator and ps pulleys are slightly larger on the f-bodies and as asked, different brackets.

PS pulley may be bigger due to the different steering on the vehicles?,
fbody=rack and pinion, b body= pitman arm

I do believe the f-body belt runs closer to the block.

Far as running a "bigger pump" I fail to see any point to doing that. My best guess wouls be it was a cheap halfassed repair.
