I'm at a loss here

Ok, just changed my opti, under the assumption that it was the cause of my problem. Fired up the car and it's sputtering throughout the range and just pissing fuel out of the exhaust system. It idles fine seemingly, but if I even so much as tap the gas it sputters and hesitates.

the original problem was a low rpm hesitation while rolling into WOT. Car was fine first time out to the dyno, but blew out the opti seal on the dyno. replaced seal, next time to dyno miss presented itself as well as the car running way rich.

I'm thinking new O2 sensors since they were run for about 500-600 miles with it rich anyway. Any other ideas???

I'm having the SAME exact symptoms, I have 70,00 miles. People have told me the Opti. but I don't know. I need help on that too.

Well, I'm 99.9% sure it's not my opti as mine is brand spanking new. Got it in and on yesterday, and fired it up tonight. I'm stumped, and rather bummed/annoyed because it hasn't run right at all since the head and cam package.

My problem came on for about 2 days, then it sat for a couple of days, ran fine for about 3 weeks, and now the problem has returned. I think I'm going to remove the O2 sensors, see that that does for me.

Gimme a minute. I have the car up on jackstands in the garage. It'll take me just a couple of minutes to unplug the O2's and see what happens. I'm betting on nothing though because I never ran the car for more than 3-4 minutes at most. Not enough to heat the O2's up enough to go closed loop, or open, whichever it is.

edit: nevermind. I really don't feel like screwing with it again right now. I'm pretty discouraged and ticked because this damn thing refuses to run correctly now. I have my extreme doubts as to the problem being the O2 sensors because the car wasn't running long enough to heat them up and kick the computer into closed/open loop.

On another note, if the freakin Speed Density board hadn't been killed, I could look up a post where a guy was having a really bad rich condition, and it turned out to be a module in his computer. Of course, I can't look that up for a reference now. All I want is my car to run right and to get back to driving it. Seems that every time something gets done it's down for months.

If it was your 02's it wouldnt do it above a certian rpm. Have you replaced the coil?

Here's all the new stuff on the car:

Heads
224/230 cam
SVO 30# Injectors
BBK 58 MM TB (TPS volts check ok, WOT was 4.65, little high)
Lifters, pushrods, rockers
Accel 300+ Ignition WITH coil
NKG TR55 plugs
Wires are less than 1500 miles and are Taylor OVC, NO ARCING or burns
Opti, today, and aparrently the old one was good too.

I haven't driven the car for two reasons. One being that it's raining/misting out and traction would be a problem. Two would be that I don't want to drive it the way it's acting in neutral when the gas gets touched.

Ok, thinking about things here, the car is obviously running extremely rich. Hence, the sputtering and popping under any throttle, and the fuel coming out of the exhaust, and the burning sensation of the eyes if you stand behind the car.

Bigger question is, what could cause the unintentional rich condition? I know the guy on the speed density board had a module in the computer fail, and I may just swap computers since I have two 93's sitting in the driveway, but that's a freaking hassle.

What about a stuck fuel injector?? That would possibly cause a misfire due to a flooded injector, and a rich condition due to all of the unburned oxygen right????? How do I go about checking for a faulty injector.

Anyone have any other ideas??

This is frustrating. I need sleep now. Checking off, back for more tomorrow.

I went and revved it a little. It's running really rich. What's causing this? EGR maybe?

I just remembered. Prior to this happening. It would run REALLY REALLY lean, then REALLY REALLY rich. This has happened twice.
O2 Sensor maybe?

I've had it scanned twice. It didn't throw any codes.
