Ignorant people and 1/4 times

There is this girl at work who's husband bought a 94 Pontiac TA, the 25th Ann edition. I told her that I know quite a bit about these cars and if he needs help, just let me know and I could give him some pointers on the car.

Anyway, I ask about the car, 160,000 miles, bone stock and in need of serious repair work. A couple of weeks later, I ask her if her husband looked at my site and what he was doing with the car. She informs me that he thinks that my car is barely faster than his car, that he figures his car to run at least 13.5 as it sits, even with everything wrong and that mid 12's stock is normal.

Freaking ignorant people. They have never been to a dragstrip, she thinks her new bare bone, no option, weakest V6 Monte Carlo can run low 14's stock. I am going to take my fiance's 99 V6 5 speed Mustang to work and smoke her ***.

Anyway, I can't wait until he gets the car running mid 12's (in his mind) and just ask her to see how it does against mine and freight train her dumb ***...I mean, high 10's vs low 14's, you no longer count in car lenghts, but freight train lengths...

It just annoys me that some people are that ignorant.

They should be about 660 feet when you cross the 1320 line.

it is kindda misleading when you've never been to a drag strip to feel what specific speeds feel like. if you didn't know much about drag racing, at first glance two cars that are a second apart on 1/4mi times wouldn't seem like much...but it is!!!

1 second does not sound like much to the average person. But we know that 1 second is an *** whooping, let alone around 3 1/2 seconds. That is a slaughter.

All it takes is one trip to the dragstrip to educate a person or persons.

both of you ought to go to the track and dile in and this way you give him a head start and still beat him and he also sees the time he accualy ran and how bad he miss judge his car.

this way you know you beat and how bad you, and you dont even have to say a thing because he knows you know

I know exactly how you feel. There's a lady here at work who's husband has a bone stock car and she just thinks it's the fasted thing in the world.

"That 1995 car runs 11's, my 2002 runs 13's, but mine is faster since it's a 2002"

I know exactly how you feel. I have a bunch of ignorant people around here like that. I guess I was one of them the first time I went to the track. I thought my car was fast and then I ran a 9.25 in the 1/8th and I saw other cars running 7s and low 8s and it took me about three seconds to come to reality.

What really irks me is when you see a nice fbody, find the owner and chat with them a little bit, offer them advice and help with their car if they need it and then all of a sudden they think they are god and know way more about it than you do and start talking smak. Yeah, my stock lt1 with a k&n and hypertech will waste your car. btw, why does your car sound like it has a miss and shakes at idle?

Then it is time to bust out the wallet and race for some cash

This reminds me when I used to race a '96 LT4 Corvette that I used to own. I thought it was fast (high 12's) until I ran against a couple of 9 & 10 second cars.

Against a 10 second car, I remember being out first, smoking him off the line, then by the 330 he blows by me going it appeared 30-40MPH fast than me

Against the mid 9 second car--it felt as if my car never moved off the line (focusing on the other car). That car appeared to be instantly 50 MPH faster off the line and then I could bearly see his taillights once my car started moving
