Re: Ignition module?

ok, its NOT the crank sensor, that wont effect spark(for misfire detection only on the 96-97 LT1s), I think shoebox has something on his site to check the opti and module

Re: Ignition module?

I took my ICM to autozone and they tested it there. Shoebox has some really good troubleshooting guides on his site, check them out.

Re: Ignition module?

did you see if the wire from the coil to the opti was throwing an arc when the engine was cranked?

Re: Ignition module?

So far i have replaced the coil, and the ignition control module and still not even the slightest spark. please any help!! some back ground info was the car was running fine no problems and just died didnt even sputter just died. I was probaly at about three quarters throttle when this happend. if this helps the check engine lite turned on the day before for the first time since ive owned the car but was not on when it died. I guess all i have left is the opti to replace.

Re: Ignition module?

A code scan may give you some insight to what the problem is. The Opti will set codes for problems with the optical module.

Re: Ignition module?

May sound stupid but did you check the harness where the opti plugs in. both at the top of the opti and alongside the manifold.check that i had the same type thing and it turned out that the plug thing wasnt all the way seated in the top of the opti.

Maybe you didn't notice that his last post said he fixed it (about 2 months ago ).
The harness is a good thing to check, though.
