idle problems...please help

Today when I was driving, it would bounce anywhere from 500-2000 RPMs, and it even died once at a stoplight. When I press the gas, it kind of like throbs at about 2000 RPMs. Do you have any idea what this might be? I was thinking something along the lines of the idle needs adjusted, or something with the fuel likes, maybe the throttle body needs cleaned or something (seems like it may be sticking)? The "throb" feels like its not getting enough fuel or something. Somebody please help!

You need to tell us some more information about your car. Create a dig with helpful information like what year, does it have any engine modifications, transmission type, mileage, etc. Is the surging all the time or just when you are stopped?

I have no idea what throbbing means, but if you think its not getting enough fuel, when was the last time you replaced the fuel filter? Id check with the basics since i dunno what the throbbing is like, just see if you have any arcing on the plugs/wires, maf is clean/connection clean, same for IAT. If it died at a stop light, first thing that comes to mind is a loose vaccum hose. My old car did that once (rev kinda high, sputter when at a stop light idleing). That would definitely be another thing id check into.

I feel like I'm getting plenty of fuel, thank you. Hah!
Seriously, when you say "throb", one can only guess you're talking about a surging in the idle, or that it won't hold a steady rpm? Any other syptoms, cuz it could be a multitude of things. IAC could be taking a dump, EGR problems, fuel filter or vacuum leak like RedTA says. Any way you can have it scanned for trouble codes?

Re: idle problems...please help

I am trying to find a local place that will scan it. I'm having some problems finding any place though. But it does not do it all the time. Sometimes it will surge at idle, sometimes its fine. I am kind of wishing its a fuel pump (gives me reason to upgrade) lol. I'm not real familiar with LT1s, but my friend who owns a LS1 is going to help me look at everything and hopefully we will figure it out.
