Idle adjust ??
Idle adjust ??
OK guys I just installed a 52mm Holley TB this weekend. No problems to mention other than a few knuckle buster cuts. Did the TB bypass too. I ran the car most of the day on Saturday and noticed on idle my tach was reading about 1000 to 1100 rpm. I guess with a new TB I need to adjust the idle do to more intake air. Or will the ECM pick up on this and auto adjust the idle for me after so long? If I have to do it manually how do I do this on a 95 LT-1. What is the normal idle rpm?
Please don't color me stupid I just usually look at my tach when its almost in the red in 4th gear!! Don 't usually notice at a stop light. Oh yeah I did notice a nice gain in the pedal with the new TB I added and I know a lot of people say go with the 58mm if you are going to bother tearing into your stock engine. But I was lazy and did not want to bore out my intake. Any help is always appreciated!!

Re: Idle adjust ??
Is your car an M6 (800rpm) or A4 (550rpm in gear, 650rpm in neutral)?
You can't really go by the tach... they typically read 100-200rpm high at idle. Best thing to do is put a scanner on it and read the RPM from the PCM. Generally, the aftermarket TB's come with the idle stop screw out too far. Slowly back off on the stop screw until the PCM indicates the specified idle speed. Then check the IAC count to insure they are between 20-40. Then check the TPS voltage to make sure it is between 0.20-0.90V.
