IAT relocate and Opti Vent to CAI?!---
I got a vortec elbow and the IAT doesnt come close to "threading" into the hole they give you, lol....AND there is no opti vent hole. Instead of drilling in the aluminum can I just drill into the K&N FIPK CAI that I have and remount the two things? I will just use the stock rubber boot for the IAT and just plug the Vent into the drill hole right? I will plug the threaded hole in the elbow too. If I leave the vent exposed is that ok too (not plugged into anything just zip tied down? THANKS!!!---
Re: IAT relocate and Opti Vent to CAI?!---
you can relocate the IAT anywhere on the intake but the opti tube must be located after the MAF so that it accounts for the pressure difference and you wont develop a stumble
Re: IAT relocate and Opti Vent to CAI?!---
You need to use a die and cut threads into the IAT plastic housing prior to trying to thread the IAT into the metal elbow. Slowly rock the die back and forth to remove the "meat".
Re: IAT relocate and Opti Vent to CAI?!---
For the Opti ya can put a small filter on it and lay it by the valve covers. A real small inline gas filter for a lawn mower will work and not look out of place or GM makes small vacuum line filters.
Re: IAT relocate and Opti Vent to CAI?!---
Using a filter to the atmosphere instead of the intake track (after the MAF) is creating a vacuum leak as it's providing unmetered air to the engine. Granted it's a small leak but why have any leaks when you can tap into the intake track and hook the opti feed line up correctly.
