I Would gain any HP ??? (Roller Rockers)
Re: I Would gain any HP ??? (Roller Rockers)
stock valve springs work just fine with 1.6 rr's. it's never been proven as to how long or if it caused premature wear, but many many people have been running them for thousands of miles without a trace of problems. you'll see about 10rwhp. it's nice to have them because you can get a mail order tune from pcmforless.com or madz28.com and they can throw a little more fuel and timing at the tune since they have a little more airflow to play with since the lift is increased. when put together, you can expect 20-30 rwhp gains. very nice for a bolt on car

For the cost of LT4 springs, why take the chance with the stock springs. LT4 springs are cheap.
I had basicaly the same mods as you, and gained 2+ mph in the 1/4 mile just from the 1.6 RR's and LT4 springs. I could feel the difference. I haven't dynoed the car again with the 1.6 RR's, but I would guess 15 rwhp is what I gained.
I bought the 1.6 NSA Pro Magnums, LT4 springs, with 7/16" studs and hardened pushrods with GM guideplates.
Here's a link to a thread where I listed my gains from various mods.

Every time I asked about using stock springs the first thing people asked was how many miles were on the car, and stated less the 80K or so you should be fine. I just thought that the LT4 springs, keepers, locks are cheep insurance, I paid a little more then $50 for everything plus shipping from Dal. This is what I got, but the prices might have changed a little it's worth calling Dal...

I think I will go with the LT4 1.6RR and valves springs. How much money you think they will go ????
The cost of the labor for install the valve and the rollers is cheap ????
Thanks !!!!

Frankly, I wouldn't use stock springs even on stock ration rockers: stockers work fine until the upper rpms when I believe you are losing power because of float. So when you go to a higher ratio lift the problem becomes even worse. JMHO

If you have someone else do it, expect to pay at least 6 hours labor.
By the way, the LT4 1.6 RR's are self aligning, so they are a little louder if that's o.k. with you. I recommend the Comp Cam Pro Magnums Non Self Aligning 1.6 RR's with GM guideplates and hardened pushrods. Lots of guys run the LT4 1.6 RR's and springs without problems though, so it's up to you. Good luck, have fun!
