I want to go fast

Sorry for the stupid title but I'm looking for a little more out of my old LT1. Right now it's got 168xxx on the clock so I don't know how much longer the motor is going to last, but I was wondering what all I could add on to it to get some more hp before I have to get a rebuild.

If I was you and with that mileage I would wait and don't beat on it because if you wanna go even faster your gonna spend your money and beat the crap out of it then your going to blow the motor. I bought my car with 101,000 miles and have 154,000 and I don't race with it and I drive in the slow lane doing 65MPH but saving for a built 383 project then im back to my same routine (beating on it). Save your money and chances are when you got enough to rebuild it it will prolly go within that time line and you will be like oh well I got the money that I got saved to bore it out. Time for project Z

I would go as far as doing the headers, that would be it. Save doing a cam/heads/rockers,ect for when you have the engine rebuilt.

Yeah that makes sense, I rarely ever race in it right now since it's my dd, but I just don't see it lasting for more than another year just because of how many miles are on it. I'm still in college right now, but I do make some money, so what should I do for a rebuild whenever it does crap out on me? I want to make around 400rwhp if that's possible with just minor stuff.

After the rebuild, I'd say a good head/cam swap with supporting mods and you'll be there.

Depends what you define as minor. A decent heads/cam setup and all the supporting mods and bolt-ons should get you there.

It's not linearly proportional either, it's exponential.

I'll second that one!! With that many miles you'd just be asking for trouble if you want to mod it more.

Put a nice converter in for now. Add a trans cooler and maybe a shift kit. It will be a nice improvement and something you'll need anyways, once you up the HP.
