Exclamation I think I'm screwed! Water pump threads on block rusted!

The threads in the block have rusted and it's really hard to get the water pump bolts in there. Any suggestions? Thanx, Rob

First try some carb cleaner and a small wire brush for cleaning dishes, something that won't mess up the threads and disolve the rust.

That or get a tap and dye (sp?) set and clean up the threads.

It's not that uncommon. If the bolts are that bad just replace them.

Try some brake cleaner. It will get in there and dry up the rust. Then spray some wd-40 in there to get it out. Thats what i would do.

I second PB Blaster, it's second to none.

Gotta get a new block........just kidding! As mentioned, hit it with some PB Blaster or WD40. If it still seems messed up, clean up the threads with a tap.

I let some wd40 sit on the threads overnight, in the block and on the bolt threads. I'll try to get them in soon. If this doesn't work I'll try PBblaster. If that doesn't work, I'll just have to tap them.

Thanx
