Thumbs down I think I have an anchor.

I finally made it to the track for my first time and was dissappointed. My best time of the day was 13.3, 60 ft time of 1.99 and top speed 103. I do believe I should be doing better than that even with street tires right? No traction at all. I think I may have a fuel delivery problem because around 5500 RPM's it feels like I have an anchor attached, as soon as it shifts into third the front end comes up and starts pulling again real strong. Also, lately it has been stalling as soon as it starts at random. It's the original fuel pump/w 74000 miles on it. Fuel filter has about 10000 miles.

That's just about where you should be for those mods first time at the track - maybe you should be slightly faster. Quit yer complaining and practice and it'll get better. And try some MT drag radials - those will make a huge difference for you.

You really think that is all the car can do with those mods and street tires? I thought it would be a lot more after reading what other cars with less mods are getting for times. Anybody have thoughts about why the car would stop pulling hard at 5500 RPM'?

I think you could be right about fuel delivery issues.

Any chance you're getting valve float? What springs are you running?

I would suggest checking the springs also, thats almost always the case when someone says their modded vehicle is falling on its face at a semi high rpm. just my .02

i didnt have to change my pump till around 130,xxx miles and that was only because my gas gauge stopped working and i ran outa gas 3 times =(. after that It would hesitate to start a lot even with a new fuel filter. So I threw a walbro in it and its been running great ever since, starts first time everytime now..

like they said above though, datalog to really see whats going on

What would I do to check springs? Also, I went ahead and ordered a new fuel pump and a set MT ET streets. If I datalog it can someone look at it for me and determine what may be the problem? Or at least tell me what to look for?

A heads and cam motor with bolt ons should be running faster than 13.3 @ 103. Need to log it and see why your power is falling off at 5500. Who ported your heads?

change the fuel filter and see if it changes it. Im going thru the same issue with my car, and its crap in the gas tank. I have to blow out my filter every 2 days to keep it running right....

Just tried the fuel filter yesterday and didn't work. Waiting for fuel pump to arrive now. I'm going to rule out the heads becuase last year with my old setup I thought that it was doing the same thing, it is much more noticable with the new setup now, especially at the track.
