I was at the track last night and launched at 3K and the tires spun and didnt really hook, The rear end appears to be making a whining sound.. How can i be sure what it is?

I put a New clutch in my car and its hard to go into all gears and at full throttle it grinds 5th.. It also makes a clunking sound when i put it in 1st or second.. only when im moving though.. If im stopped its fine.. What do you guys think?

I'm assuming you were running on some pretty sticky tires. Does the clunking happen when you put it into gear, then let off the clutch, or actually going into the gear? If it's only when you let off the clutch it could be a broken tranny mount, which would be the best case scenario. No way to really know for sure what's happening in your rear without pulling off the cover and taking a peek.

I'd make a post in the drivetrain section, there's quite a few knowledgable people over there.

As for the clutch, I don't know crap about M6's as you probably already knew...

yea man. heads/cam + DRs usually kills 10 bolts. dunno about the clutch though. you said you broke it in for 500 miles correct??? btw - what did you run?

 

I ran consistant 12.9s @ 110 and a 2.1 60FT.... I also got a .509 light and got a free test and tune entry.. not that ill be going anytime soon..



I took the cover off.. It seems the launch didnt kill it.. I must have only went half way through the water and the other wheel must have been hopping because i snapped 2 teeth off the spider gear.. Im putting it back together and getting a moser 9" eventually.. 2500 bucks was my price quote so far.. I only hear a minor noise when i turn.. thats about it.. The teeth that were taken off were both on the top gear.. As long as the bottom ones intact i think id be alright for a while..
