I don,t know about the drillin holes but the descreened MAF yes, I think most of us have done that.
Next you need to remove your AC.

What?...you mean everyone has not done that?

Lots of people have, lots of people wish they didn't...

do a search on !MAF and you'll find TONS of discussions on it...

Some have no problems, others do...

all in all, its a useless mod, and if possible, you might as well put it back in... it smooths out the airflow and allows the sensors to get a better reading...

IT IS NOT A RESTRICTION

Altough some of us have done that, it is not recommended. It can throw up the MAF signals. Sympthomes would be rough part throttle operation, slight surging, etc.
I have done that and have regretted it..

I descreened my mass airflow sensor and had no problems, but just to be sure I replaced it with a Granatelli one and have had no problems.

I bought a used one and descreened, ported and polished it. Then I sold it and reinstalled my stock MAF after Ed Wright suggested I do it when he programmed my PCM.

Besides, if you happen to have some foreign object hit those sensor wires or happen to make it to the intake, you WILL regret it. JMHO

Here is a good discussion on the MAF screen. It seems Brent had the MAF flowed with and without screen and found the screen to be a restriction. Also like said many times, it works for some and not for others. It works for me.

I threw mine out years ago and never missed it.
My car ran 13.6 at 102 with few mods.
I never even thought about it again till you guys bring it up.
Maybe my car would of went even faster with it in. I don,t believe that though.

My instructions for the K&N cold air intake said to remove it. I removed it, and didn't notice any problems. Maybe it was o.k. because of the K&N CAI.

I removed mine many moons ago and have never had a problem since... *knock on wood* ... what usually happens with people who perform this mod go al the way like I did (remove all of the interior of it port and polished) the some how mess up the TINY wires that are part of the sensor.. and that is why most of them have problems... I was careful and took my time and mine came out just fine.. and I also noticed a pretty sizeable gain in my air flow!

How did you notice a sizeable gain in air flow?

Actually with the mods I already had done... I noticed a pick up in my upper RPM range... knock it all you want.. but I am one of the few that it worked for!
