I raced my buddies 00 SS. Results inside.

We raced twice. the first time we started at about 10mph up to 100 and i beat him by 1 car. The 2nd time we started the same, except i closed off the cut-out and i beat him badly. Any reason?????? His SS is an m6, ram-air of coarse, and borla cat back. Overall i was VERY pleased with the results. Im thinking when i go to the track i should be pretty good in the 12's.

THis was on a closed road btw, i dont condone street racing

Good run on your part. He probably should be able to beat you or start catching you in the latter half of the 1/4, but it sounds like you have a strong LT1 and him having a weak LS1. What's your best time in the 1/4 and or dyno numbers?

well, i ran a 13.5 before the headers and the 1.6rr's. So im probably close if not in the 12's. He has run his SS at the track and it ran a 13.1. He is a pretty good driver.

FWIW, my car made more power and torque on the dyno with the cutout closed. Yours may like it closed too.

ya, having an open cut out gives you lots of noise but not much else if you've got a good flowing exhaust.

That is total BS . The guy has almost a full bolt on LT-1, im not at all suprised that he smoked that LS-1. I know how strong LS-1s are but come on his friends car just has a cat-back on it. Start giving LT-1s more credit.

Perhaps your cutout is causing a bit of false knock to be picked up? May want to log a few WOT runs, or maybe just throw a lt4 km? Nice run

Hate to break it to you but thats not the case, bone stock ls1s put down just as much if not more more than 90 percent of the full bolt on lt1s. They also are about a 100lbs lighter to which equates to a .1 faster equivalent power for power.

maybe its just my luck..but my bolt on lt1 never has had a problem with a stock ls1..maybe its my gearing? or maybe its because the powerbands fo the two engines are different..i know ls1s are peakier..but i would definately say a full bolt on lt1 puts out more power then a stock ls1

My LT1 was 100 lbs lighter than my dads LS1 on the same scale at the same time with the same amount of gas in each car.

I think you misunderstood. I was just referring to Speed_demo24's response to stik6shift93's post I believe ya And yes weight plays a big part in what options are for each car.

I give LT1's credit whenever I can. I almost bought one until I came across the car I have now, so I'm NOT at all one of those LS1 snobs who thinks they own everything but an 03 Cobra. I guarantee you jason's93Z won't trap any higher than 106mph in the 1/4, which is where any well driven M6 LS1 can do stock. I still say jason's93Z was the better driver in this race and because of that won. If you get a 1/2car or full carlength jump at launch, you will hold that lead with an LS1 for a 1/4 because of the momentum you gained from the better start, even if the other car is slightly faster.
