I need some help please...

I have run into an issue with starting my car. It is becoming a serious issue because I am moving here in the next week or so. My car will not start. I can not get the car to turn over AT ALL. I just put on a brand new battery and a brand new LT4 starter. What could cause my car to not even crank? It is a 95 Z28 6 speed. I am stumped. Please help me out. Thanks guys.

Re: I need some help please...

Check all connections, ignition switch, VATS, fuses. I think VATS.

Edit: that LT4 starter ever worked?

Yes...I had it tested after installing it thinking that might have been a problem. And I didn't think 95's had the VATS??

On http://shbox.com/1/vats_bypass.jpg there a VATS for 93-95 and BCM for 96-97.

Could easily be that switch that says your clutch is depressed.

That is what I am starting to think....if they are not that expensive I will pick up a clutch switch tomarrow. Any way of testing it to see if that is the problem?

Ok wait, is the starter making noise when you try to start it, or n o noise? A click from the solenoid, does it sound like the starter is grabing the flywheel and just cant turn it? Have you tried cranking it with a breaker bar off the balancer bolt? Have you tried push starting it since its a 6 speed?

Im not sure if your starter isnt engaging or if your motor is just locked?

The starter is not making any noise at all. You can definetly not hear the starter contacting the flywheel. When I try to start it, there is no noise whatsoever.

Re: I need some help please...

Worst case scenario if you have to move the car and you didnt figure it out yet have someone push start it and drop it in second should start right up.

the security lights not coming on when you try to crank it? Make sure the bulb works watch it when you first turn the key should light up for a few seconds then die out. If your not getting a security light id suspect the ignition switch. But id first get under the car and try to manually bump the starter, while making damn sure its out of gear and someone is around to make sure nothing crazy happens.

Found it. It was the clutch switch. My Mom's boyfriend had a spare one in his tool box. Switched them out and the car started right up. Thanks guys.
