My brother has a mustang 95 GT and he bought AFR's 165cc Performer intake FTI cam ,full exhaust etc. he challenge me to a street race in the freeway.can do i have a chance with him??my only mods are CAI ,no cats,4.10 gears,i ordered a Jethot LT and a Hooker catback but they will arrive in 2 weeks ,thx for info

 

I think it is very possible. does 95 mustangs had like 224hp Stock on the Fly. You must have like 280-290 at least on the RW so un less his heads and cams can make up for 100 hp you will win for sure. Anyway that's the fun of racing you never know what can happen. Give it a Try just for the KICKS

 

i think with longtubes you should win by a car or 2. without them it will be close, but still might get him.

 

No ,you wont beat him .your 410's will actually Make your car slightly slower on the highway . He has adecent setup . It wouldnt take to much for your car to match his setup though .

 

Race him in two weeks after your headers/catback and madwolf tune

we have a pretty well tuned SN95 with those heads and all the other bolt ons running 12.20s@111 and making 320rwhp. you have cubic inches on him, that will help on the freeway. when my LT1 (275hp) was stock i outran my buddies 98 cobra (305hp). i didnt start pulling him until 4th gear.

 

You will beat him...those cars put out like 170ish rwhp stock...heads/cam might put him at 250ish rwhp...which is about where you are stock...race him from a stop(traditional drag race) and you'll stop him!

My buddy has a 94 GT vert 5spd. With cam,headers,full exhaust,upper/lower intake,65mm TB,mass air, etc. Car in my sig. can walk him like he's standing still. He's already bought larger injectors and an aftermarket set of heads. We both figure it should be a close race with him possibly slightly ahead if my car stays the same. Unfortunately we'll never know cause the LT1 is getting an overhaul this winter when his heads are going on. I think you should fair pretty well, but he might edge you. Once the LT's and exhaust go on it'll go the other way I'm sure. Also are you an auto or 6spd? And is the GT an auto or 5spd?

 

Hi Jay,Both cars are stick ,i think i change gears very quickly,something that i noticed in his car is when you change from 1 to 2 and 3rd when you are doing the gear change ,the computer retards the timing or something in his car after que did the H/C/I ,maybe now when he did the tunning will not doing that thing again,well,we will see what happens.

 

If yours is a stick I am very very certain you'll take him. You have better gears than I do, and a better top end than I do and I can pull very hard on my buddy. My stall helps me out a lot on both the low and the high end, but I think you still have an edge with your stick/gear combo. I don't have my LT's on yet either. I am fairly certain if I put them on and he put his heads on I bet I could still edge him out. Maybe not by much, but the way I walk now it's only gonna get worse with the LT's. His heads are a huge bottleneck though so it would be the same for his car as well. I wish the snow would melt, it's got me itching to find out now.

 

I would think you should beat him. It might be tougher on the highway because the 4:10s will actually hurt your car with your current setup. Your going to be starting off in too high RPM and when you drop it down your probably going to be well over 4000 RPM, putting a car with your mods well out of strong power range. Try and get him to do a dead stop, that should help you out because youll be able to utalize all your low end torque.

 

i think you can take him...I raced my buddy in his 95 stang and he has a 342 stroker, heads, cam, headers, full exhaust, ect... i stayed right with him through 3rd then he started to inch away from me. By the end of the race he onyll won by 2 cars...if that. Keep in mind too that my car is stock except for my slp loudmouth catback system
