I need info

Within a few weeks I am buying a 1995 Z28 and I was wondering if it would have to be reprogramed because i want to cam it, install headers & exhaust, and a bigger throttle body. IF someone could give me some information I would really appreciate it because I have no experience with LT1s. thanx

You don't have to, but if you're going to do all that, the motor won't reap the benefits of the performance goodies without a PCM retune.

With those mods, you will want a re-tune for it to run right.

When I installed my hotcam I didnt have it tuned for at least 2 months. I did notice a nice gain tho. I dropped .5 off my 1/8th mile times with 3.73 gears and the hotcam.

If you went with a tamer grind like the Hotcam, you could probably get away without a tune, but once you start getting into larger grinds, it will run poorly. If you are going to spend all that money on all those mods, why cheap out on a simple mail-order tune to dial in the new combo?

With the mods you want to do, pay for at least a mail-order tune. If you stay with the common cams, Ion at MadZ28.com (my choice) or Brian at PCM4Less.com can get a pretty good basic set-up for you. You will most definately notice the difference.

Although I didnt get mine tuned for a few months and still made good power. After I got it tuned it did idle alot smoother and I could tell I picked up a little more hp. Its only about $100 bucks and is well worth it.
