I Need Good Advice On Oil Pump!!

I was reading alot on the bad HV pumps and i decided on two pumps since i will be using the stock oil pan. I was looking at the GM performance part # 12555884 which is standard volume high pressure and the sealed power part # z22443469 which is standard volume and standard pressure. I will be using Oil pick up part #12550042.And for the oil driveshaft i will use an ARP part # ARP 134-7901. Which pump should i use? i have a 355 and will be a daily driver with trips to the track every 3 months or so. Also what is the part number for the oil drive gear that i need for a CC503 cam? I dont want to get the wrong gear and end up messing it up and have no oil pressure. Any info is appreciated!

You are way over complicating this as you have the intake thing.

Spend half as much on a Melling shaft. Spend $4 on a GM white spring and put it in the stock pump so long as the pump passes inspection.

Going to go out on a limb and say the GMPP is made by Melling and would be a good bet tyhe Sealed Power is as well so if looking for a whole new pump why not look at Melling.

Just about all of us use the stock oilpump drive gear and the cam should come with the right one on it.

The Melling select 10554 is often used, as well.

Thing is I see a LOT of cars where folks relied on bench racing and theory to build and in the end they spend $10K to get the same results I did for $3k. That is not built better, that is foolishness. Takes a different kind of thinking to sort out the good from the bad info on these boards. A LOT of expensive parts or ones with great reputations are not so good.

To "complicate" things a bit more... the stock pump can be "blueprinted" to perfrom even better.

I wouldn't call that complicating. I would call it actually making efforts to UNDERSTAND things and that is good. All too often guys spend money on things that are supposed to be better without any understanding.
