My headers melted some kind of bushing or piece of plastic off my steering column in my engine compartment. I noticed a piece of plastic kind of burnt up close to the firewall on the steering column. Now my steering is loose and has play in it. Do you guys know what this part is and how to replace it? I do need to get some heat shielding.

 

Is it a peice that you can just take off? if its just a plastic shield, You dont even need that.

 

It is the rag joint. DO a search on a part called the rag joint eliminator. $30 and gets rid of the play in the wheel.

 

The rag joint isn't plastic, at least it wasn't on my car, more like fabric.

 

I wanna replace mine just because.....

Anyone has the website link to the eliminator part?

No. it isn't that piece of plastic. I'm thinking it is the rag point you guys talk about. I'll do a search when my boss isn't next to me.
