have the intake port matched... otherwise you defeated the purpose of having ported heads.

If you don't want the most power out of your car.

Definitely DO NOT! have the intake ported alone without it being port matched to the heads. They key is to have the heads and the intake together, so they can remove the material necessary to make sure the intake ports align direct on with the head ports. You'll get the most out of your setup that way.

Yeah because people dont gain any power with ported heads on a stock intake manifold. You better tell that guy trapping 125mph in a full weight car with a stock unported intake manifold that too.

And to the OP, call them up or email them I'm sure they will be helpful in telling you if its worth it or not.

The LT1 is not like the gen 1s where the manifolds were crap and intake manifold swaps or porting stood to gain a fair amount on an otherwise stock engine. The LT1 intake is pretty good as is though when porting heads it sure doesn't hurt to have the heads guys wave a grinder over the intake too.

I never said you can't run ported heads on a stock manifold. The reality is that your leaving power on the table. If you talk to any head porter they will tell you the same... and that is to get the intake and heads portmatched if you want the full potential out of your car. THe LT1/LT4 intake port holes are tiny when compaired to the intake ports on ported heads. Just another reason why people get dissapointing #'s after heads and cam packages.

I'm 100% with Dwayne and Dangalla on this. You don't need a ported intake manifold with ported heads. The LT1/LT4 intake is awesome in untouched form.

You can certainly get a tick more performance out of the combo if you did have the intake ported with the heads though. But every head/intake combo is different. Some guys like to keep the intake manifold runner ports smaller than the head intake ports (and not "matched").

Reversion. Sometimes a small lip is better than a perfect transition from the intake runner to the head runner. Or at least this is what I've heard.
