My water pump went bad and leaked all over for about a week before I could change it. When I did finally change it we ripped it off not even taking into consideration that the opti was right there. But luckily I've had no problems....yet.

I didn't spray my engine for years. Then I started pressure washing it at the carwash. No problems so far, I always spray it with the engine running though.

My water pump was pissing on my opti for a long time when the previous owner had it, I found it out once I bought the car. And it survived.

my opti i 12 years old and has had two water pumps leak all over it. andhave washed the engine a coulpe times. like the others said if the seal is in good condition and the vent hoses are working there is no reason why it should not be ok.
