A little back ground first. I have been trying to solve some issues with a car I bought earlier last year. Car is a 383 with a t-trim 95 z. I installed a racetronix fuel system, coated the long tubes and bmr k-member. Car starts up and seems to idle smooth. However there is a light smoke coming from someone on the passenger side only. At first we thought it was some wiring burning, but it happens pretty much right at start up and goes away when you turn off the car. I can't seem to locate the source and am hestitent to drive the car as it is apparent something is not right. Anyone has any ideas? Thank you in advance

It could be an exhaust leak or oil leak. It could also be the new coating on your headers.

When did you reinstall the headers? When I installed mine they smoked for about 10 min. I had gotten dirt and oil on them and it took a bit to burn it off. I would pop the hood and let it run till I found it. Might be a plug wire burning.

I dont think it is a wire burning because the smoke starts right away. I dont think there is enough time to get anything that hot and start smoking. Plus all of the wires are clear from the primaries. I thought it could possibly be an exhaust leak but I think i would here that.

another thought which came to mind wa the egr. I didnt have a gasket on that connection, if that is not sealed correctly could that cause it?

Think you might have a leak around the dip stick tube? Might have come off and is dripping onto the exhaust..... check it out from underneath the car when you start it.

this could be the case, although there doesnt seem to be any oil underneath and I thought we rtv it up pretty good. will double check though
