I have oil in my coolant
havent gotten a chance to flush my system yet. i need to buy coolant and all. if i just flush the radiator then how will i know if its just that because the rest of my block still has old coolant in there i have to get it started and running again. wouldnt that be bad and possibly hurt the motor?
yea i have just heard that it is a pain to get the bolt or the knock sensor out and if you can get it out sometimes its a pain in the *** to get it back in or cant get it back in. the last time i flushsed it i just flushed the radiator, ran it to get the system flowing, flushed it again and so forth about 10 times to clean out the block good. worked pretty well not the best but not too bad.
I'd have to vote for the engine oil cooler if this problem is as described. my oil cooler flows coolant to the oil filter this is the only way i can see it happening.
if the car has been setting any coolant in the oil would have settled down to the bottom of the pan.

i read some more threads on this and others have said the oil cooler might b bad also. wehere is located at the filter? and how do i go about changing it. can i bypass it and just plug the line or connect the two from the cooler? how much is a new one? i also read on here that it might be the gasket for the oil cooler? this really might be the case. the oil in the dipstick looks fine, its dirty but dirty oil not milky chocolate. but the oil in the radiator is oil and in the reservoir is milky chocolate like. the car doesnt overheat and stays cool just fine. runs great. i need to get this fixed how would i check to see if it was a blown head gasket? cause i ahve been driving it just about everyday. i just flush it when it gets a lot of oil in it and and flush the reservoir and put new coolant in it when it gets really oily. but everything else is fine. i dont think theres a lot of oil in the radiator just enough to turn the color and see it. so i dont think it will damage anything at least i hope not. let me know guys. thanks
The only way oil can get into the coolant is where the pressurized oil interfaces with the lower pressure coolant. If you have an oil cooler, that is the first thing I would eliminate. After that the only thing left is a defect in the block, like porosity or a crack in one of the oil galleries that is next to the water jacket.
I just went through this with a buddy's BBC. We did a compression test and then a leakdown test and everything checked out fine. The car ran good too and the plugs were burning perfect. Never did find where the leak was but a replacement block cured it. Fortunately for him, it was replaced under warranty.

can i bypass the oil cooler or is that not recommended? like will it damage my engine by not cooling the oil? can i just connect the two hoses together that go to the oil cooler and out from that to the pumP? like basically take a connector to conect those two ends together? now after i do that how will i connec tthe two oil cooler lines together so it wont spit oil out or anything? can i remove the cooler and not put anything there? i checked with the dealership and the parts manager said they dont make the oil cooler and no replacement part for it anymore. how do i get one if i were to replace it? does anyone have a good working one? how would i replace it as well? thanks let me know guys.
You delete the cooler by totally removing it and using the normal oil filter adapter and not-stud bolts. Then, you use a "bypass" hose from the water pump to the radiator (that's what the non-oil cooler cars have). There will be coolant in the hoses-not oil.
i read in another thread that i get the auxilary hose for the water pump to radiator and when i take off the filter take off the cooler then take out two long studs then replace them with the rright bolts is that all i have to do? do i have to get a different adapter? i went ahead and ordered the hose and the two bolts. is there another adapter i have to get as well or wont the filter twist right up after the oil cooler has been removed? thanks. i really hope this is my problem and why i have been getting oil in my radiator. if the cooler is bad it can cause this right? or maybe a gasket or seal wen out and oil is seeping into my coolant lines? thanks
