I have a stock, automatic 94 LT1. The only mods so far are a K&N filter, new 3.73 gears, recent tuneup and a hypertech.
I am looking for suggestions to get more horsepower without pulling the engine. I have about $5,000 to spend and I dont want NOS.I dont plan on drag racing it, so I am not concerned about the strength of the rear
What engine upgrades would give me the most horsepower for that amount of money and how much horsepower would I get ?

 

My suggestions:

Full exhaust (long tubes).
Better heads (ask here for suggestions on that).
Supercharger

 

Big wing and one of those fake purges.


It's fast enough if you're not gonna be racing it.

 

Full exhaust
Good sticky tires
rear suspension
Heads/Cam(which includes everything to compliment it)
shift kit
stall converter
Do all the labor yourself and save money for more parts

You could be hitting high 11's

 

High Stall Convertor, MT ET Streets, Procharger, PCM Program (email or dyno) and that should be an easy no problem 12's if you have some more cash maybe a Nitrous Kit (i don't know how well the bottom end will hold) and that's 11's

 

full 3inch exhaust with LT headers $800-1k
fully rebuilt stage 3 tranny w/ shift kti and stall 2800-3200 stall $1500-2000$
full bolts, cam, heads, vavletrain, springs retainers 2000-2500$
lt1 edit, get rid of that hypertech junk! 50-400$

that right there should be almost 5k...

 

just keep driving it, you'll have $5,000 in repairs on these cars every 6 months
