I got a quick OBD1 doesn't like big stall TC question.

I think I'm getting my stuff figured out.

My car doesn't like to shift if I floor it from a roll. From a dead stop its fine.

1-2 shift really isn't a problem, unless I punch it around 40 when it shifts 1-2. Then it'll just bang into the limiter in 1st.

Say if I punch it in the middle of 2nd, it'll bang into the limiter at the 2-3 shift from a roll.

If I nail it from a stop, it'll shift fine 1-2, then go through second and it'll shift 2-3 fine as well.

I was just wondering if this was the OBD1 doesn't like big stall torque converters problem at work. It doesn't really matter, I try to only race from a dead stop anyway. It's just for my clairification.

Thanks!

sounds more like a tranny than OBD problem

OBD is only when you launch hard i think

Ask funina91ss or blownbird355 about this. I believe it is recommended not install a TC above 3K. The OBD I has problems with this. Some people get away with it, but most don't. I heard Bryan at PCMforless found a fix that may work for some.

I can't remeber what it is in the trans that has to be changed, but Hot Rod Hawk would. Try messaging him.

No, Bryan has found the fix. My freinds 94 Z had no problems when he was running a TCI 2800 stall. When he went to a Vigilante 3800 the probelms began a month ago. 2 weeks ago my friend was given the fix from Bryan and I watch it with my own eyes at the track. It works!

Could be. I only hit the true OBDI problem once when I flashed the converter off idle with ET Streets. It started banging into the rev limiter. I normally stall it up to around 1200 or so, then let it flash and I have no problems.

Hmmmm.
