I got 21 MPG all highway on a 1,100 mile trip!!!!

I have 3.23's and granted I was going about 80Mph most of the time and pretty often I hit 100mph. My RPMs were around 2,400 to 2,600 the entire time.

That makes sense then to get only 21 MPG right?

That doesn't sound terrible being an auto...but I've never taken an auto other than my IROC on a long trip.

I got 24.5 in my WS6 A4 on a 600 mile trip when it was stock, and that included a run to 160(buried speedo).

21 sounds a little low to me...

Doesn't sound very bad to me the best I have gotten so far is 23 mpg and that is mixed city and highway and I actually took it easy on the car. I still have some maintenece stuff to do so that will go up in the future.

But hey good gas mileage is just a nice plus I doubt many of us on here bought our cars JUST because they got good mileage.... It is hard enough to drive the car easy enough to get really good mileage.

Trip, Metro Detroit to S.E. Florida December 2002. Down bound 80 mph = 25 mpg. Return Jan.2003 70 mph = 26 mph. Each way is 1450 miles. A4 with 3.23 gear.

I used to get 24-26 MPG with my auto...you shouldn't be that low, even averaging 80 or 90MPH. If you spend twenty minutes beating on it per tank that will really drop your MPG. Just highway though, should give you better MPG than that. I've gotten as high as 32 with my M6.
