Damn, 7300 for an LT1 with 100K miles? Around here you can find LS1's with 80-90K miles for that price...well maybe just a tad more. Anyways this is all just the beginning of the experience with your LT1. Get used to these kinda problems cause there will be more down the road. Good luck getting it fixed.

$7300 for 100k miles 96 = ripped the fu*k off.

Anyway, the dealer has a responsibility. They can't sell cars "AS-IS" like a private buyer. I don't know how many days you have to claim, but you can. Ask an attorney.

In my experience with LT1 motors, a high-rpm miss usually means the coil and a low-mid rpm miss (or throughout the powerband) usually means the optispark is going south. I wouldn't doubt that on a car with 100,000 miles.

7300 for a trans am with 100000 fully optioned and in excellent condition is worth 9k according to KBB. And that is in AZ. In another location it could be even higher. My car booked for $12,200 with 48k on the car. These are private party values. You can check if you want. Area code is 85212.

If you were paying cash, I would have looked into a private party seller. With some patience and some research, I'm sure you could have found something with less miles, better condition, and complete history attached to it.

Any car with 100,000 miles you have to assume right off the bat that things are going to start to fail and factor that into the price. If you end up keeping the car, change ALL plugs to the same brand, change o2 sensors, all filters & fluids, and get the PCM cleared of any codes.

I've bough 2 used lt1's. Both set the ses light off right after I got them. In both cases, I ran out the fuel that was in them and fueled up with a good 93 octane fuel and the light went out and the cars ran great. I think that owners, and dealers especially put cheap regualar gas in these cars when trying to sell them. But, if yours has real problems, its great that the dealer if fixing them. Remember, if the gas cap isn't closed tightly, it can set of the ses code in these 4th gens.

I gave 4500 to a nice girl a my mom's work for my 96 with 130000 on the clock and that dang car pulls like a sombit** and has near perfect artic white paint. The only problem i had was the factory recall on the air pump(which does have to do with your cats), which is what i would suggest thay look into before you get it back
