I'd think that once or twice a day would be good enough, I'd feel guilty too!!

J/K I wonder this too, but I imagine it couldn't be that great on the drivetrain.

Four or Five times per tank of gas translates to about 2 times a week not 2 times day. I just don't know whats too much. I guess it averages to be about once every 60 miles I get on it for a gear or two.

i know exactly how you feel! as much as i like redlining on the highway i try not to.

it just feels like my engine will last longer if i never open it up

on top of that, with my exhaust wide open it sounds like my engines pissed off at me for flooring it in the first place!

when I first got my car(about a month ago) I got sad when I would romp on it. Hell, I've only been WOT like 3 times with it, since there is plenty of power with less throttle. But lately, I've been romping on it since I detatched my muffler(). Friends want me to roast my tires up, but that too much money right there, even though I work at America's Tire Co.

You guys make me feel real bad. I floor it about 30 times on the way to work (20 miles). My orignal engine lasted 116K miles no trouble at all and it looked awesome when it came apart (cross hatching still very visable). It came apart becuaes it was not quick enough. That is probably why I go through 2 rear tires every 3K miles.

Thanks inferno, you make me feel better, I have a disorder.

I was driving around today for about 5 hours, Im sure a did about 15 full, under 10mph to 110 mph passes and dozens of full throttle passes to 60.
I know this isnt good but its just so hard to resist.

Trey, I can't belive your so patient. for that I think I will TRY to go 2 days with out going over 50% throttle, just to see if I can make it

Don't feel too bad guys - that's what our cars were made for!

The only time I ever feel bad is when I downshift to get into a lower gear for more RPM, like on the highway, if somebody want's to race and I'm in 6th, I'll drop it into 4th and mat it.
The engine can handle it.
The tranny can handle it.
I fear the rear end will give when I do this though.

As far as I'm concerned, giving the car a good workout, like getting onto a highway onramp is not detrimental to the vehicle.

Sheez, you guys baby your cars

Today, just coming back from my moms house... floored it around town, floored it up to 85 on the freeway, floored it coming back down my street twice.

My gas mileage is crap though, especially without the muffler on, but that Hooker Catback comes in tomorow! WOOHOO!

I go through stages of babying and ragging teh pissout of it... for 2 weeks or so I wont even floor like Ill try to get teh absolute best milage I can then all of a sudden Im ALWAYS flooring it, like every time I start from a stop I floor it to 3000 rpm in the first 3 gears then put it in 5th or 6th sometimes I floor it through the first 2 gears to atleast 4000 or so just for fun randomly too. Its wierd but I feel worse flooring it from 1500-2000 since it makes a crappier exhaust noise i just get a mental picture of the combustion processin my engine and how torn up the internals are from my romping on it when im in that mood, doesnt stop me though, hehe.
