Question Hypertech Programmer HELP!

Has anyone ever programmed your f-body for the Hypertech Power Tuning Option with stock 180 degree thermostat and 87 gas? It recommends 92 or higher octane, and 160 thermostat. Just wondering if anyone has tried with 87 octane and 180 thermo. Please let me know how it was if you have! ( I hate to pay over $2.00 for gas, is why I'm stuck on the 87)
