Is the Hypertech programmer and 160* thermostat worth it?

Ok, My car is stock as of right now. My engine is running a little hot for my taste and i am in the mood for some more power.

So would a hypertech programmer and thermostat be worth it?

Also what are the bennefits of having a programmer?

Thanks

The thermostat may not be a bad idea, but there are better and cheaper programming choices out there.

I suppose if you get one for next to nothing, it won't hurt. And since you can program the theromostat and shift points. Wouldn't look for any power though.

You can go for Mail-order, PCMFORLESS etal. You might not see much power improvement without a cam , but you can get the PCM reprogrammed for less when you do get some more goodies.

Just don't get the HPP if you have to pay full price.JMHO

What would be some other alternative programming choices out there?

Also, what would the 160 degree thermostat do for me if i didnt buy the programmer? Will it kick the fans on sooner or something like that?

Thanks

Without a tune and 160 stat, the fans will run all the damn time (happened to me).

Other tuning places are PCMFORLESS or Ion (madwolf) are the best.

That makes no sense. How would lower cruising temps make the fans run all the time? Other than crusing temps, idle temps would be about the same as with the stock thermostat.

Have no idea. But once the car came up to temp. the fans would run for a long, long time. Soon as I put in the hypertech chip (will be swithing tune soon, the Hypertech kinda sucks) it ran just like it did before I put the 160 stat in.

Wink

I disagree. I think the power programmer is decent tune. The one thing about it is you can take out and put it back in whenever you want to. The pcmforless is prolly better for performance, but its not adjustable in any way. I like my programmer for its adjustability. If i'm goin on a trip i take it out and get better gas mileage and so forth. If you get one, get it off ebay for about half price like i did. Just my opinion though.

I was always told that Hypertech was a P.O.S. Why do you think some many people on here refer to it as "Hypercrap"?
