97WS6SCharged, what rods do you recommend? The Eagle I-Beam rods? I'm not trying to be cheap, but do I really need different rods if I'm not planning on using power adders anytime soon? If so, are there any that are a better price?

What type of power adder are you considering? Nitrous, blower, turbo... How long do you intend to drive it before you add the power adder?

The more I think about it, the more I realize that I probably wont even put a power adder on it for a long time. If I ever do, it would probably be nitrous. Basically I'm looking for something thats going to be dependable, that I can get on every now and then. It will see hardly any track time. Just something that wont break if I run it hard occasionally.

Personally, I would build a nice 11:1 355 with an LE2 head/cam setup. Have the stock rods and crank checked, use the hyper pistons. Should be quite reliable and still move down the track pretty good.

Those hyper pistons have been known to take a 100 shot with no problems. People on this board have rebuilt with the summit kit with hyper pistons and run juice. As long as you dont get greedy then it will hold together and be sure to take the safety precautions first.

i like forged pistons and would definitly put them in for insusance, as far as the rods you can get a decent set of eagle rods for about $40 more than it costs to have your stock rods resized w/ ARP bolts, stock crank should handle about 500-600 fwhp from what im told, and i cant remember anyone breaking a crank in a street car
