Hurst vs. Pro 5.0 vs. B&M

I'm debating on which shifter to get. I have never driven anything other than the stock shifter and It was horrible. Several times down the track I would go straight from 2nd to 5th. I've seen a lot of posts on "What shifter is better?" and about 9 out of 10 guys say th pro 5.0 is the best so that's probabally what I'm getting. My question is...Why is the pro 5.0 the best. They all advertise that theres is the strongest, or shortest throw, or best this and that. I was just wondering what makes the pro 5.0 so much better than the hurst Billet plus or the B&M ripper.

This topic is similar to "which cat-back is best?" Everyone has an opinion but in reality they are all very similar.

Just make sure that if you pick up the Hurst you get the Billet Plus model and not the standard "factory" hurst. I've felt the B&M and I use the Billet Plus... I got the Billet Plus because it was slightly cheaper and different sticks are easily had

Hurst- Smoother while still being precise
BM- Adjustable stops, precise
Pro5.0- Adjustable stops, precise, offset to 3rd so you'll never miss 3rd gear.

Just about everyone who has a B&M Ripper winds up saying that...

I have the SLP/Hurst and it is a very good shifter. I am not sure what more I could ask a shifter to do.

A friend has the old style hurst shifter and is sucks badly, but the SLP/Hurst is a good unit and for $99 it is hard to beat.

I have the B&M. I dont know how much better it is than stock because it was on the car when I bought it. To be completely honest, I think it SUCKS! I had a ripper on my last car, a thunderbird SC, the supercharged v6. On that car, the B&M was 10 times the shifter that it is on the camaro. It was like what people describe the 5.0 as being, absolutely no missed 3rd gear. On my camaro, I have missed 3rd a couple of times with the shifter. I hate it! Some people like them, so if you really want one, I'll sell ya mine, because I'm getting a Pro 5.0!

shifter

I had the Hurst Billet Plus in my 94 Z28, took it out when i sold it, put it into my old 99 SS. The guy i sold my 99 SS to, took out the Hurst and put in a Ripper. I bought a Ripper for my last 96 Z28, It was nice, a little more noisy then the Hurst. But this time i think i will try out the Pro 5.0 on the 97. Afterthoughts has the pro 5.0 with Lou's short stick for 215.00. A little pricey for a shifter if you ask me, but people seem to love it. I was also wondering about the SLP with Lous stick combo. I could pick up the SLP for 99 and the stick for like 40 and save a bundle. Any comments on the the SLP shifter??
