Hub position in relation to keyway?

I need to know if the arrow on the balancer/pulley/dampener lines up w/ the keyway in the crank snout? TIA

No, its not supposed to line up. If the hub arrowis at 12 o'clock position with #1 piston at tdc then key should be at 2 o'clock position.

there may be a small ~3/16th " long scribed line on the front of the crank. On one of the three sides of the hub there is a drilled hole where they balanced the hub i believe. Those where lined up on my 94 at least so i put them back that way.

If you didn't rotate the crank at all then just put the whole assembly back on at 12.

You could also find TDC and then put it on 12 then.

Ultimately it won't matter if you don't get it lined up as long as you know you can't rely on that for TDC and have to find TDC another way.

I vaguely remember that the keyway was approximately at 2 oclock, but i went by the scribe mark since i thought that would be more accurate.

when i had #1 TDC and i pulled the hub, the keyway was around the 2 o'clcock position. but you have to remember the LT1 hub is unkeyed and may have moved from the original position.......

You can pick up a keyed stock style LT1 hub from www.ThunderRacing.com then there will be no more guessing. And you will have the safety of the woodruff keys.

Yep, I'm not sure I need one but when I dedid my cam and lifters recently, I got one of those keyed hubs. I got mine from MORE Performance in Charlotte, NC.
MORE

The factory should have keyed these hubs and saved us the trouble.
