hub

I am curious how to get the crank hub off of an LT1. I have been trying for a few hours and it is just stuck. Is there a special puller or something beside a bolt type hub puller? Thanks for any help, cameron

Did you take the center bolt out? If you did then you need to put a longer bolt in ther to have something for the puller to push against. If you don't then your puller will push against the Hub itself & you could break the hub. Also I wasn't able to get mine off right away. I had to use an Impact gun with a lot of pen oil.

Go to Sears and buy their 3 jaw puller. It is a craftman product and sells for 40 bucks. Then stop buy a fastener store and buy a grade 8 hardened bolt that is smaller than the hub bolt and 5 inches long. After you take out the hub bolt slide the new bolt into the hub(smaller so it doesn't screwup the threads) and then put the puller on the end of it. That hub will come off with one hand turning the rachet. Then use the same puller to remove the lower timing gear that is pressed on the crank if you are replacing the chain. It's worth the 40 bucks.
