Someone told me that I could get 80HP (not sure if he meant RW or FW) by replacing my ignition system (MSD ignition, hotter coil, pluggs and wires) and by getting a chip. This sounded very high to me. I was just wondering what everyone else thought. He also said I could probably do it for $500. Opinions?

Igition mods could get you about 20 at the flywheel, and a tune (only the good one mind you) can get like 15ish.

MSD6, plugs, and wires cost about $220

PCMFORLESS custom tune is between $100-$150

 

Yeah. Just so you know, 4th gen Camaros don't use chips (except for '93s), you actually have to program the computer. Those gains are definitelt unrealistic. Tell your friend not to believe the ads for products.

 

No, but if you get headers and a cam/heads package you would probably be very happy.
