HP estimate??
HP estimate??
I just rebuilt my entire motor. I did a 355 bottom end(.30 over pistons, all new bearings etc...), Jet Hot LT'S, ORY, Flowmaster, Hotcam with springs, 1.6 rockers, stock heads decked (10 thousandths shaved off) with a vavle job. Fully Built T-56, all new carbon fiber synchro's, steel shift forks, everything was basically upgraded. And i also just bought everything else new, like waterpump, timing ching, optispark, etc..
Anyone have a guess at what kind of power it'll put out to the wheels? I plan on getting it Dyno tuned, but thats not until a few weeks, maybe a month.

Re: HP estimate??
Power is in the topend not bottomend, the 355 will result in only slightly more power than a stock shortblock with that cam would have made with stock heads. The HOT cam springs are not as good for that cam as you would asume so they might leave a little power on the table.
Honestly I would be outright shocked if you hit 340rwhp will guess 320-330.

Have you ran the lt4 hotcam setup?
Re: HP estimate??
No not much of a sheeple myself. IMO the HOT cams is popular for two main reasons one it is cheap two beause it is popular. It's early popularity was rooted in it being one of the first options for the LT1 and the current popularity spings from that NOT from results by any means. 6+ years ago it was a decent setup to consider, today it is ignorance that leads people too it we now have a huge variety of better choices.
Re: HP estimate??
I just asked if you ran the hotcam setup or not. since you haven't....thanks for your .02. And the main reason i went with the cam is because of its driveability. Its amazing how everyone who hasn't ever ran that cam, bashes on it day and night. Is there anyone who HAS actually ran the setup, and have idea of what gains i might get??
Re: HP estimate??
I had an idea and SEARCHED to verify it. I know folks with that cam they are only happy with it until they learn how weak it is. Sort of "ignorance is bliss". There are smaller cams that will give you the same HP with a fatter lower torque curve the crane 210/224 for instance those here who buck the norm and try that "way too small" cam or the little Lingenfelter something like 211 on the intake are usually very happy.

Re: HP estimate??
the cam works out ok I Had that cam with the LT4 conversion on
stock bottom end made 361HP to the wheels the cam is very streetable
no diffrence besides power in driving I know run a fully built motor with the
847 cam and AI ported LT4 head what a diffrence the cam does not work all that well on the street but I need a good dyno tune

Re: HP estimate??
Slicksix, I'd have to agree with the others and say about 330HP. Your car being a manual should make it pretty easy to reach that number with a good tune. Iv'e only had a chance to go for a ride in one car that had that cam, it was an auto with longtubes, gears, stall, etc, etc. I was very impressed with how that car would pull and can only imagine how much more fun it would be in a manual car. I don't think you will be disappointed.
