Hows the G2 cold air kit compare?

I was looking to buy and install a cold air kit and I actually have a K&N but I hate the fact the I have to install the filter from the bottom. I know its really not a big deal but I am a stickler for maintanence and clean my filter regularly. What Im really asking is if the G2 cold air kit will breath enough since it used half of the stock box? Thanks.

I have a G2 and a Moroso. The part of the G2 that connects to the MAF is actually bigger than the Moroso. You'll hear people on this board tear up the G2, but my experience has been this. I cut the complete front of the stock part out, the piece that clamps the filter in place, and it flows just as well as the Moroso as per my Scanmasters GPS readings. And like you say it is a lot easier to service the filter.

I'm not really sure which is better but by the look of the G2 vs. any other CAI, IMHO the NON-G2s look like they will flow a lot better. Also the NON-G2s get the air from a lower, and cooler area. That is just what I have seen. But also if maintainance is your thing I know on my K&N filter cleaning kit says not to clean it all the time, to actually let is get somewhat dirty I think the intervals were like 50K miles for non dusty/street driven areas....

If I could do it all over again I would still go with the Moroso CAI. It is awesome, and it is fairly priced. Cleaning the filter is really not that bad at all, I mean if you stop to take a break and smoke a cigarette, it might take 30 minutes. Well worth it IMHO.

Why are my scanmaster GPS readings the same for both then?

I did the same thing that anaik did-cut out the plastic that surrounds the filter-it makes a world of difference-I then bought an SLP-could not tell a bit of difference between it and the G2.

I did the ghetto CAI. Also removed the lower cover on the front corner of the car completely along with that 90 degree duct work. Did make a SOTP difference IMO but I switch to a K&N filter at the same time. I keep the "horseshoe" so it would still mount securely.

PS. My arm is not that hairy in person.

I'm willing to bet 90% of the people that badmouth it have had no personal experience with it. Somebody says somethings no good and it catches on.
I'm not trying to sell anybody on it. I'm just giving my experience with it. I bought it back in '94 when there wasn't much on the market. I also didn't have the resources of the internet. I'm just saying it can be made to work as good as my Moroso. You still can't argue with the Scanmasters grams per second readings of both CAI's.
Believe what you want, what I stated, is what I experienced.
