howling noise.. but not from gears! at front of car

It sounds almost like gear howling, except its whooshier.. comes from the front left-ish from my car.

it happens after 3.5k rpms, and is very loud. I've had this sound for a while now, and it doesn't sound like its getting any better or worse. What's the sound, and is it hurting the car?

Check tire pressure; any abnormal tire wear on the inside/outside of tire? Maybe an alignment is in order.

I kind of get this problem too, its coming from my front left tire when i floor it to get to 60. I was wondering about it too. It sounds like the front tire is going whoooooooooosh really fast and loud. I what can I try (Tires are all relatively new bfgoodrich geforce at 30psi)?

thanks for the replies, everyone! phenomic, that sounds just like the problem I have, except I have kumho ecsta's. And yeah, its a whooshing, but whistling sound, almost like a bassy train whistle, seemingly coming from the left tire area.

damn. hope its not serious.

man, I was gonna bring this up, but I kept forgetting to post it. I'm also wondering if it's my Kumho tires. Kumho 716 HP4's 235/55/16 here. When I cruise at around 65-70mph it starts to howl. I was like "WTF"?!?! I'm not sure if it's my tires or not, but I DEFINITELY wanna fix the problem.....a sound like that CAN'T be good.

Wheel Bearing ? Brake issues?? Get it looked at asap. Should be able to jack of that side and rotate the tire... if you can duplicate the noise it will make it easier to diagnose/fix.

Ive heard my tires make the same sound and its done it w/ different sets of tires, i really noticed it when i changed to new tires thou. I only noticed it on a certain road and never heard it on anyother roads, either i dont hear it any more, its worn the tire enough not to make the noise anymore, my brain completely ignores it, or it was just cause they were new tires. Dunno
