i think shbox.com has a good wrightup on it. i prefer to do it with the engine not runnibg. basicly the idea is to adjust the rocker to zero lash and then add a small amount of preload.

It could cause a performance issue, and the rockers will tick/clatter if they are too loose. Exhaust leaks can sound like loose rockers just so you know. Adjust the rockers according the link and see how it runs/sounds after that.

i think that might be the problem cause like i can see the gasket on the header is messed up.. and its been failing emission which would make sense cause its before the o2 sensor.. but a mechanic laughed at me when i asked him that.. i was like im pretty sure that sounds more likely but he was like ur valve train sounds tired

Well if you have a bad exhaust gasket than can cause a lot of noise too. I would adjust your rockers, change the gaskets, and then see if its still making noise.

ok im gonna go with the header gasket first and see if it changes it and then do rockers. because it seems liek the gasket will take less time and i dont have a garage to do it in and its still kinda cold out lol

Is it a ticking noise or a loud metallic banging? A loose rocker will not only lead to a performance decrease, but can lead to bigger problems.
