How to tell if opti is going?
How to tell if opti is going?
I took my car to the track again sunday and could only manage a 13.1@ 103.xx, the engine has almost 115,xxx miles on it but Im not convinced that is the problem, it doesnt seem to want to pull as much in the high rpm's, could it be the opti? The previous owner said it was last changed out at 50,000 miles. I have a few extra ones laying around but I dont want to change it if it is not a problem. Is there any way I could see if it is breaking up in high rpm's? And exactly how hard is it to change the opti?
Thanks in advance

Re: How to tell if opti is going?
annoying but not hard to install...
a key sign is that the car will not rev as high as it used too...
Just see if you can get the car to hit 6K freely.... that's all I know of... the other signs are obvious.. choppy & rough idle... backfires... misses... etc...

Got to Autozone/Advance/Pep Boys and look for a spark tester. About $10. You can use it to check for spark coming from the coil, each plug wire, and each plug wire connection on the opti.
